(April 26, 1932 - November 6, 2018)Ed "Easyed" Lenning - age 86, of Pomeroy, passed away on Tuesday, November 6, 2018, at the Shady Oaks Care Center in Lake City, Iowa. Edwin Charles Lenning was born on April 26, 1932, in St. Paul, MN. He was the son of Ed and Margaret (DeWolfe) Lenning. At an early age Ed moved with his family to the Clear Lake area where he was raised and attended rural schools through eighth grade and then Fertile High School. At an early age Ed went to work in the Mason City area, working many jobs for five years. In August of 1949, Ed married Patsy Frost in Mason City, from this union six children were born. Ed went on to work for the Chicago and Northwestern Rail Road as a clerk and switchman, retiring in 1994 after 40 years of service. Patsy passed away in 2001. On October 20, 2007, Ed married Diane Hansch at Lake View. The couple settled in Pomeroy. Ed was an avid golfer until 1982 when his family gave him a white bulldog puppy he named Duke. For the next 25 years he bred and exhibited bulldogs. His dogs became nationally known across the USA. He achieved many awards for his dogs and bred many champions. He served in many offices for the Bulldog Club of America, including board of governors, president and was inducted into the Bulldog Hall of Fame. Ed was a member of the St. John Lutheran Church. Ed and Diane enjoyed golfing, bingo and spending winters in Arizona. Survivors include his wife, Diane of Pomeroy; children, Debra (Ray) Govern of Bancroft; David (Toni) Lenning of Salt Lake City, UT; Charles Lenning of Goldfield; Patricia (Rhonda) Lenning of Mason City; Penny Goates of Swea City and Edwin John (Tricia) Lenning of Clarion; brother, Donald (Donna) Lenning of Ardmore, OK; sisters, JoAnn Best of Clear Lake; and Sharon (Bill) Lewis of San Antonio, TX; step-children, Wendy (Ed) Steinberg of Pomeroy and Kristi Colbert of Norway, 17 grandchildren; 11 step-grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; 11 step-great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. Ed was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Patsy; stepfather, Orville Hall; father & mother-in-law, John and Margaret Frost; grandson, Cory Goates; great-granddaughter, Emily Berte; daughter-in-law, Rita Lenning; and brothers-in-law, Roger Best and Bob Bomgaars.
