Obituaries
Clarence W. Black Jr., 65, died Friday, May 31, 1991 at Mercy Medical Ceneter, Des Moines. Funeral services were held Monday, June 3, from Palmer Funeral Home in Rockwell City with Rev. Logan Dunham of the Rockwell City Church of Christ officiating. Interment was made in Rosehill Cemetery, Rockwell City, Clarence W. Black Jr., son of Clarence W. and Zetta Snyder Black, was born August 10, 1925 at Renwick, Iowa. Clarence moved to Rockwell City as a child with his parents and received his education in the Rockwell City schools. During World War II he served in the U.S. Army. He married Caroline Armstrong on March 16, 1948 at Jolley. They later divorced. He was employed with the Calhoun County Maintenance Department, farmed and was later maintenance manager for Duarte, California, until retiring in July 1987. Preceding him in death were his parents and one sister, Margaret. Survivors include sons, Lowell, Lorimore, Loren, Fontana, California, and Lynn, Lake City; daughter, Luann Hamilton, Winterset; eight grand children: sisters, Donnabelle Barber, Oklahoma, Katherine Lee, High Point, North Carolina, Harriet Becker, Waukee, and Jerelyn Peterson, Oregon; and his fiancée, Doris Hendricks.
