Edger Ernest Hunt
(September 24, 1927 - November 12, 2022)Edger Hunt, age 95 of Lanesboro, IA, passed away on Saturday, November 12, 2022, at Shady Oaks Care Center in Lake City, IA. Edger Ernest Hunt was born on September 24, 1927, to parents Edward and Anna (Peters) Hunt in Carroll, IA. He grew up on the family farm in the Lohrville area where he attended grade school up until the eighth grade and began his career in farming. On April 17, 1946, Edger enlisted to serve his country with the United States Army. He earned the rank of Tec/5 and received a World War II Victory Medal. Edger was honorably discharged on April 29, 1947. On February 23, 1951, Edger was united in marriage to Kay Remsburg, in Jackson, MN. This union was blessed with two children: Darrell and Darlene. They raised their family in Lanesboro where Edger farmed and worked at the Elevator. He became the manager of the elevator in 1968 and later retired in 1994. Edger was a member of the Lanesboro United Methodist Church from 1970 up until 2022.
Edger had a love for old tractors, especially Oliver tractors. He spent his free time restoring them and attending antique tractor pulls. He also spent a lot of time traveling with his 5th-wheel camper down to Texas. Edger was involved within his community and was very proud to be a member of the Carroll County Solid Waste Management board and the Lake City school board. He was also a member of the Lake City American Legion Auxiliary and V.F.W. Those left to cherish his memory include his children: Darrell Hunt (Diane Abbott) of Des Moines, IA, and Darlene (Romayne) Wenck of Glidden, IA; grandchildren: Angie Hunt (Ryan Pudenz), Melissa (Mark) Davis, Cody (Jill) Wenck, Becky (Chris) Moweary, Colette (Bernie) Heidgerken, Chance (Allison) Wenck, and Brenda (Tony) McCoy; 16 great-grandchildren; brother John Hunt of Churdan, IA; brothers-in-law: Rich Ryan of Omaha, NE, and Randy (Marlene) Remsburg of Audubon, IA; several nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends. Edger was preceded in death by his wife of 70 years Kay Hunt; infant sons Craig Edward and Gary Lee; parents Edward and Anna; and siblings Doreen Zacharias, Mildred Heuton, and Lois Ryan.
