Funeral services for Charles Arthur Sands were held last Saturday morning at Hooker’s Funeral Home in Woodward, Ia., and graveside services, in charge of the Lake City Masonic Lodge, were held at the Lake City Cemetery, where burial was made Saturday afternoon. Mr. Sands was born in Scranton, Ia., April 18, 1882, and died at Iowa Methodist Hospital in Des Moines, Aug. 21, 1946, as a result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident near Woodward. The only son of Charles and Sarah Sands, both of whom are deceased, he was united in marriage to Mary Edna Fulkerson of Lake City Feb. 3, 1904. To this union were born two children, a son who died in infancy, and Sarah, who is a student nurse at the Iowa Methodist Hospital. Mr. Sands came to Lake City in 1900, where he was engaged in the meat and grocery business for many years. The family moved to Woodward in February 1942 where he operated a refrigerated locker plant until the time of his death.
