Harold Albert Low, only son of Charles and Margaret Orr Low, was born in Sandwich, Ill. July 11, 1873. At an early age he moved with his parents and three sisters to Lake View, Iowa, where he lived on a farm. Later, the family moved to Lake City, Ia., where he invented a process for manufacturing concrete fence posts. During this time he was married to Miss Tena Sculte of Lake View, who preceded him in death in 1917. To this union two children were born – Ted A. and Bonita Ruth. He affiliated with the Masonic lodge in which he took an active part, and was a member of Rose Croix Commandery of Sac City and ZaGaZig Shrine of Des Moines. He was interested in civic affairs and served on the Lake City council from 1914 to 1916. In 1920 he was married to Miss Zora Townsend of Lake City and moved to Storm Lake, Ia., where he engaged in the real estate business, handling land in northern Minnesota. In 1924 he moved to Minneapolis and started a plant for the manufacture of batteries. When his health began to fail he retired and for the past few years he had been confined to his home. He passed away on this morning of Oct. 5, 1943. He is survived by his wife, two children, Ted A. of Chicago and Mrs. Bonita Wallis of Boise, Idaho; twin grandsons, Dick and Don Low, and two sisters, Mrs. Verta Harges of Ashland, Idaho, and Mrs. Jane Canon of Des Moines. Services were held at the Farber Funeral Home in Lake City Oct. 7 with the Rev. J. M. Doms officiating. Mrs. Paul Packer, accompanied by Mrs. A. M. Short, sang “Crossing the Bar” and “The Lord’s Prayer.” Those attending from out of town were Mr. and Mrs. T. A. Low of Chicago, Mr. Jane Canon and Chris Miller of Des Moines; Mr. and Mrs. L. G. Newby and Mr. and Mrs. Will Newby of Wall Lake, Mrs. Mabel Schulte and John Schulte and Mr. and Mrs. Charles Griffin of Sac City; Mr. and Mrs. C. W. Roop of Storm Lake, and Wm. Kilgore of Carroll.
