Philip T. Bangert
(September 16, 1929 - March 22, 2014)

Philip Theodore Bangert was born at rural Pomeroy to George & Bertha (Meyer) Bangert on September 16, 1929. He was baptized and confirmed in St. John Lutheran Church at Pomeroy, Iowa. He attended country school and high school in Pomeroy Iowa, graduating in 1948. He married Patricia Lou North at Grace Methodist Church in Manson, Iowa on February 11, 1951. He had several jobs in the Pomeroy area until he was selected for Army service in 1951 and served 18 months in Japan. Upon returning home, he was employed as a mechanic for Bodaken Implement in Pomeroy. In 1955, he and Leo Clancy started the B & C service station in Pomeroy. In 1957, he moved to the family farm to begin farming. In August of 2006, he and Pat moved to their retirement home in Blue Eye, MO. Phil was very proud of of having been a member of the fall baseball champions in 1947 in the State of Iowa. He was an active member of St John Lutheran Church, holding offices on the church council and singing in the choir for many years, sponsoring theJr. Lutherans and made special crosses for the confirmands with walnut from Rev. H. Meyer's walnut tree for many years. He enjoyed golfing, playing cards, going to Arizona for the winter and having his family around him. Phil & Pat attended the Blue Eye Methodist church after their retirement. Phil is survived by his wife Patricia, sons: Michael (Julie) and Bruce (Mona), daughter: Phyllis Menke (John), daughter-in-law, Gina. Sister, Sharon North (Glenn), 21 beloved grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren and many loved nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, son, Brian, brothers, Donald and Sherman, sister-in-laws, Eileen Bangert Smith (Donald), Joann Bangert (Sherman), grandson, Benjamin and great granddaughters, Allison & Emily.
