Henrietta M. Lenz
(December 2, 1915 - February 8, 2013)

Henrietta Lenz, age 97, passed away on February 8, 2013, at Pomeroy, Iowa. Henrietta Marie Wittrock was born on December 2, 1915, on a farm south of Halbur, Iowa. She was the daughter of William and Elizabeth (Schmitz) Wittrock. After she completed her education at St. Augustine - Halbur school, her family moved to a farm near Fonda. On January 16, 1940, Henrietta married Hubert C. (Blackie) Lenz at Our Lady of Good Council in Fonda. The couple made their home on their farm on highway #7 between Manson and Pomeroy, where she was very active in the operation of the farm. In 1981, they retired and moved into Pomeroy. Henrietta was a very active member of St. Mary Parish and St. Mary Altar Society. She was also a member of the Pomeroy Kitchen Band. She had also spent many years volunteering at the Pomeroy Care Center. Henrietta enjoyed crocheting and tending her flower garden, especially her famous cactus. Survivors include her sons: James (Vera) Lenz of Loveland, CO and Robert (Maureen) Lenz of Pomeroy; daughter: Rose Marie (Russell) Spear of Algona; daughter-in-law: Marie Lenz Kaufman of Manson; thirteen grandchildren; twenty-six great-grandchildren; sisters: Louella Pierce and Irene Lomicka and brother, Maurice Wittrock. Henrietta was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Blackie in 1985, son, LeRoy in 1989, sisters, Lucille McGowan and Elma Lenahan and brothers, Bill and Lavern.
