Obituary – Mrs. John Burrow
Mrs. John Burrow died Monday, June 15, having been in poor health for a year, the last three months bedfast. Funeral services were held June 18 in St. Paul’s Lutheran Church and interment was in the Jolley Cemetery. Pallbearers were Henry, Fred, August and Casey Holtorf, W. Becker and Charles Mohr. Margareta Cerelia Spiese was born Oct. 1, 1863, at Wilsher, Molstein, Germany, where she was baptized and after instruction confirmed in the Lutheran Church. She died at the age of 72 years, 8 months and 14 days. In 1881 she emigrated to the United States and made her home in the vicinity of Pomeroy. After working for some time she was married to John Burrow on Oct. 28, 1886. For ten years they made their home in and about Pocahontas. In the spring of 1897 they moved to Harris, where Mr. Burrow followed his trade as a blacksmith. In 1926 they moved to Knoke, where they have since lived. Her passing is mourned by her husband; five sons, William of Fonda, Albert of Pipestone, Minn., Fred and Alfred of Billings, Mont., and Herman of Madelia, Minn.; three daughters, Mrs. J. Nagel of Sac City, Mrs. Anna Brader of Kankakee, Ill., and Mrs. Emma Gutten of Harris; 14 grandchildren, two brothers and three sister.
