Wayne Edward Johnson
(October 5, 1922 - June 15, 2009)

Wayne Edward Johnson, 86, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Monday June 15, 2009, at the Pomeroy Care Center Wayne served his country during WW II in the Merchant Marines. After his discharge he returned to his home town of Jolley, Iowa and married Eileen Doyen. They made their home on the family farm for several years, farming, until 1958, when they moved to Grover Beach, CA. Wayne worked as a carpenter and later joined, and retired from the San Luis Obispo County Sheriff's Department. While in Grover Beach he was a scoutmaster for the Boy Scouts and a member of the volunteer Fire Department. He enjoyed caring for his avocado orchard and being outdoors on his ranch in Arroyo Grande. After he retired he traveled, spending his summers in Iowa. He moved back to Iowa in 2004 when his health began to fail. Wayne always said that "He lived in the best of times". Left to cherish his memory are his son, J Johnson, Arroyo Grande, CA, daughter Ronda (Michael) Hanlon of Jolley, IA, 4 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. In his death he has rejoined his wife Eileen who died in August 1986: ;one daughter Denise; his sister JoAnne Johnson; and his parents James and Anna (Meents) Johnson.
