(February 3, 1886 – June 14, 1937)

Obituary – J. E. Torrance
Jonathan Emory Torrance, son of Park and Eliza Torrance, was born on a farm west of Rockwell City Feb 3, 1886. He died after a short illness in Rockwell City June 14, 1937, at the age of 51 years, four months and 11 days. He has lived in this vicinity all his life. Until 1895 he lived on the farm. The family then moved to Rockwell City where he grew to manhood. In later years he again moved back to the farm homestead and was making his home there at the time of his death. On Aug. 24, 1913 he was united in marriage to Miss Nellie Murray of Rockwell City, to which union one son was born. His wife preceded him in death in 1925. Mr. Torrance was a member of the Rockwell City Presbyterian Church, having transferred his membership from the Lavinia Methodist Church April 5, 1931. He leaves to mourn his loss one son, Wilmot of Rockwell City, one sister, Mrs. Everett Gregory, also of Rockwell City, and other relatives and friends.
