Lawrence “Lucky” Culver, 88, of Somers, died June 4, 2024, at his home. Visitation will be held from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 12, 2024, at Gunderson Funeral Home and Cremation Services. Graveside services will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, June 13, 2024, at Cedar Cemetery.
Lawrence Wayne Culver was nicknamed “Lucky” since he was born on Friday 13th of September 1935. On April 30, 1955, Lucky was united in marriage to Doris Johnson. After their marriage the couple made Fort Dodge their home until August of 1972, when they built their home in rural Somers. He worked as a truck driver and maintenance technician for Umthun Trucking. He loved fishing, especially in Canada, the winters spent in Texas and trips to Mexico. Lucky is survived by three sons, Dave Culver of Livermore, Dan (Jane) Culver of Algona, and Darryl (Jean) Culver of Pocahontas; six grandchildren, Brad (Genna) Harson, Amanda (Ryan) Rasmussen, Sarah Wood, Laura (Tony) Meyer, Jennifer (Alex) Beebe, and Brian Culver, and ten great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife of nearly 69 years, Doris Culver who passed on April 24, 2024, his parents, a son Dennis Culver in March of 2023, a grandson Jeff Harson, and all of his siblings Margarite, Everett, Richard, Howard, Kenny and Paul.
