George H. Juilfs
(February 3, 1921 - June 1, 2009)

George Juilfs, age 88, passed away on June 1, 2009, at the Pomeroy Care Center. George Herman Juilfs was born on February 3, 1921, near Pomeroy in Pocahontas County. He was the son of Harm and Engle (Klaassen) Juilfs. George was educated in Pomeroy schools. During World War II, George served on the USS Conklin DE-439. After he returned to Pomeroy, George worked in the area as a carpenter until his retirement. George entered the Pomeroy Care Center in May of 2005. George was a lifelong member of St. John Lutheran Church. He also belonged to the AMVETS. In his spare time, George liked to garden. He loved his work and spending time with his family and many friends. Survivors include his sister-in-law: Alma Juilfs of Pomeroy, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Grace, Ethel, Emma and Dora and brothers, John, Claus, Harvey, Carl Henry and Chris.
