Lorraine Mae Koenck
(August 20, 1926 - May 26, 2023)

Lorraine Mae Koenck was born on August 20, 1926, the daughter of Clarence and Bertha Maak. She met her Lord and Savior on May 26, 2023, at the age of 96. Lorraine grew up on a farm near Vail, IA, and she received her education in rural schools. As an infant, she was baptized in Christ and later confirmed at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Deloit, IA. After finishing her education, she worked at the Boyer Grocery Store. On October 25, 1946, Lorraine married Vernon Koenck at the St. John’s Lutheran Church in Deloit. Their union was blessed with five children: Connie, Colleen, Gary, Ronda, and Vickie. They made their home on a farm outside of Boyer, IA, later moving to a farm outside of Lake City. After several years of being on the farm, her family moved into the town of Lake City. Vernie passed away on August 5, 1992. Lorraine worked at Farmland and retired after 18 years. Through the years, Lorraine enjoyed playing cards, dancing, camping, fishing, doing things with her family, and watching her great-grandbabies grow up. Lorraine was a long-time member of the Pilgrim Lutheran Church in Lake City. She was a very loving wife and mother who supported her family in all that they did. Those left to cherish her memory include her children: Colleen (Chuck) Moeller of The Villages, FL, Gary (Kathy) Koenck of Princeton, MO, Ronda (Jerry) Evans of Auburn, IA, Vickie (Chris) Terry of Lake City, IA; grandchildren: Tenna Remmick, Scott Remmick, Tammie Quail, Carrie Moeller, Kevin Koenck, Kelly Batson, Katie Joiner, Jacki Vonnahme, and Josh Evans; 15 great-grandchildren: sister Shirley Freese of Manilla, IA; and many extended family and friends. Lorraine was preceded in death by her husband Vernie; daughter Connie Krueger; granddaughter Jodi Terry; parents Clarence and Bertha Maak; and sisters JoAnn Sopher and Merilee Reetz.
