Laurel Alfred Seger
(November 24, 1894 – April 10, 1934)

Obituary
Laurel Alfred Seger, the son of Lena and John Seger was born at Wall Lake, Iowa, Nov. 24, 1894. He died at the hospital in Rochester, Minn., April 10, 1934, aged 39 years, 4 months and 16 days. When five years of age he came to Rockwell City with his parents and here he grew to manhood. During the world war he served in the United States Army, Co. E, Infantry, from July 19, 1917 to Nov. 21, 1918, receiving an honorable discharge at Camp Devens, Mass., on this latter date. On May 9, 1932 he was married to Zachary Taylor at Kansas City, who survives him. Since October 1932 he had been suffering from an incurable malady and had taken treatment in a number of hospitals all to no avail. On Friday, April 6, he was taken from his home in Ellendale, N. D. to the hospital in Rochester, Minn., and passed away the following Tuesday. He bore with fortitude and cheerfulness the pain of illness and the realization that he could not get well. He expressed his resignation to the inevitable hand of Divine Providence which is ever reaching out to care for those who put their trust in Him. There remain to mourn his loss, his wife, Mrs. Laurel Seger, of Ellendale, N. D.; Mrs. Lena Seger, his mother, of Rockwell City; his father, John Seger of Willard, Mo.; two sisters, Mrs. R. M. Duffy of Washington, D.C., and Mrs. W. A. Christolear of Lake City; two brothers, Albert and John of Rockwell City, and a son, Robert, by a former marriage, who is now residing in Fort Dodge. One brother, Lewis, and a sister, Lillian, have preceded him in death. Source - Rockwell City Advocate & Calhoun County Republican, Rockwell City, Iowa, Thurs., April 19, 1934, p.4
