(June 21, 1858 – October 14, 1933)

Obituary
Clara Augusta Madden was born in Polk County, Iowa on June 21, 1858 and lived in that vicinity during her young womanhood. Here she was united in marriage to George W. Davis and to this union was born one daughter, Bessie Ardelia. Mr. and Mrs. Davis came to Calhoun County in 1882 and located on a farm northwest of Lake City and lived there for five years. After this Mr. and Mrs. Davis move into Lake City and here they resided until the death of her husband in June 1927. On account of illness, Mrs. Davis soon after the departure of her husband, made her home with her daughter, Mrs. Clarence Anderson. On Oct. 9, 1931 Mrs. Anderson, her only child, departed this life after a brief illness and Mr. Anderson has won the highest esteem of his many friends by giving the utmost care and showing the greatest kindness to Mrs. Davis thru all of her continued illness. Mrs. Davis united with the Presbyterian Church in Lake City on April 13, 1890, and was one of its most faithful and devoted members until illness prevented her from further activities and even then her interest was in the church advancement. After an illness of several years, she departed this life at the home of her son-in-law, Clarence Anderson, on Oct 14, at the age of 75 years, 3 months and 23 days. Those surviving her departure are her son-in-law, Mr. Clarence Anderson of Lake City; her sister, Mrs. Susie Johnson of Cameron, Ill.; Frank and Fred Madden and Mrs. Ellen Pooler, all of Lake City; and Mr. Grant Madden of Rockwell City; a sister-in-law, Mrs. Emma Davis of Sherwood; numerous nephews and nieces; and a host of friends. Mrs. Davis lived a noble, Christian life, contributed much to her church and community where she lived, and passed into the great beyond with a steadfast faith and glorious hope.
