(May 8, 1935 - December 10, 2023)

Leta Millis, age 88 of Lake City, IA, passed away on Sunday, December 10, 2023, at MercyOne Des Moines Medical Center in Des Moines, IA. Leta Dorene was born on May 8, 1935, to parents Lester and Dorothy (Hamilton) Mohr in Carroll County, IA. She grew up in Lake City where she attended school. On July 7, 1955, Leta was united in marriage to Riley Millis in Belle Fourche, SD. This union was blessed with three children: Dixie, Betty, and Riley. Together they raised their family in Lake City where Leta worked at Air Electric in Lohrville, IA, and Franklin Cleaners in Des Moines, IA. In her free time, she enjoyed gardening and spending time outside. Leta also helped park cars at the Iowa State Fair for several years. Most of all, Leta cherished her time with family and fiends and will be dearly missed by those that knew and loved her. Those left to cherish her memory include her children: Dixie (Mark) Holst of Lake City, IA, Riley Millis of Des Moines, IA; grandchildren: Chris (Kim) Holst, Mike (Sara) Holst, Joe (Carrie) Holst, Shanda Patterson, Shauna (Justin) Weeks, Markie Skelton, Hollie (Matt) Sewick, Cody Hogrefe, and Nicole Millis; 20 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; siblings: Janet Snyder of Lanesboro, IA, Peggy (Lowell) Stollme of Rockwell City, IA, Ron Mohr of Lake City, IA, Gene (Della) Mohr of Lake City, IA, and David Mohr of Lake City, IA; and her beloved dog Buddy. Leta was preceded in death by her daughter Betty Hogrefe; two brothers Richard and Gary Mohr; son-in-law Mark Patterson; daughter-in-law Barb Millis; and great-grandson Dakota Holst.
