Obituary – Henry August Koeppen
Henry August Koeppen was born in Copenhagen, Denmark, Sept. 21, 1859. In early infancy he was baptized into the Lutheran faith. At the age of 15 years he was confirmed. He left his native land in 1882 and came to Dysart, Ia. In 1883 he went to California and again returned to Iowa in the fall of 1884. On Oct. 21, 1885 he was united in matrimony to Doris Jipp. This union was blessed with seven children. They resided at Keystone, Ia. until 1906 when he with his family moved to Jolley where he lived until he departed this life on Aug. 6, 1935. He attained the age of 75 years, 10 months and 15 days. He leaves to mourn his loss his wife, five daughters and two sons, one brother, Adolf Koeppen of Clutier, Ia., 15 grandchildrren and three great-grandchildren. The children are: Mrs. Henry Stein, Elberon, Ia., Mrs. E. M. Williams, Jolley, Mrs. John Stein, Gilmore City, Nancy Koeppen, Jolley, Louise Koeppen, Cedar Rapids, Edward and Arnold of Jolley. Funeral services were conducted in the home on Thursday, Aug. 8. The Rev. William Zibell of the Lutheran Church of Rockwell City spoke words of comfort to the bereaved family.
