(July 5, 1910 – November 29, 1932)

Obituary
Donald Edward Wisthoff
Born July 5, 1910; died November 29, 1932. Age 22 years, 4 months, 24 days
Donald Wisthoff was a son of Clarence Wisthoff and his wife, Minnie, nee Griswald. Donad was born at Richards, Iowa, where he spent the first four years of his life. From there, his parents move to Jolley, where he had been living with them until his sickness and departure. In early infancy, his life was dedicated unto the Lord by the sacrament of baptism. He enjoyed the normal development and living of a good boy. In 1929 he graduated from the Jolley High School, and October 14, 1932, he joined the American Lutheran Church at Lytton, by the act of confirmation. For the last two years he had been working his grandmother’s (Griswold) farm and was planning within the near future on establishing a home of his own, until God indicated to him that he was to go to his home in heaven instead. Donald was comparatively well with the exception of indigestion at times. True to his nature, he had been working hard until a sudden attack of severe pain the day before he went to Lutheran hospital at Fort Dodge, where thru an operation it was learned that he had bacteria peritonitis and so far developed that the attending physician voiced the opinion that he had no chance. He then received holy communion on November 19 and it was hoped against knowledge that he might survive. Miss Luella Scharn and his mother were constantly at his bedside, besides the efficient care of a special nurse. Everything that loving hands could do was done. For a few days he rallied, he fought bravely and for a time it seemed he would win in spite of his chance, but God had in store for him a greater victory, that of eternal life.
He leaves to mourn his early departure, besides his parents, his best girl friend, two brothers, Kenneth and Lucian, one sister, Lucille, his two grandmothers and many other relatives and friends.
