Funeral Services Held For William Nieman
On last Saturday afternoon, another pioneer resident of this community, William Nieman, was carried to his last resting place. He had been a resident of this community for 48 years. William Nieman was born in Germany on January 24, 1849. On October 28, 1874 he was united in marriage to Miss Stina Voss, and to this union seven children were born. Mr. Nieman’s death was the first break in the family. He was 81 years of age. Mr. and Mrs. Nieman came to the United States in 1882 and located on a farm 11 miles north of town. They resided on the farm until about 10 years ago, when they purchased their home and moved to Pomeroy. On October 24, 1924 Mr. and Mrs. Nieman celebrated their golden wedding anniversary. Besides the widow, Mr. Nieman is survived by his seven children: Mrs. Levine, Ware; Fred and Will of near Fonda; Mrs. Charles Osborn, Margie, Minnesota; Mrs. Bert Rude, Fonda; Charles of Pocahontas, and George of Sac City. He is also survived by 19 grandchildren and one great grandchild. Funeral services were held last Saturday afternoon from the First Evangelical church, conducted by Rev. Schumann, pastor, and assisted by Rev. W. Vehe of Cherokee. Interment was made in Union cemetery. The pallbearers were Williard and Lyle Nieman, Walter and Arthur Levine, Byron Rude, all grandsons, and Cecil Ellis.
