Funeral Rites For Mrs. Pruin Held At Pocahontas
Pocahontas Democrat – Funeral services for Mrs. M. J. Pruin were held Tuesday afternoon at 2 o’clock, at St. Peter’s Lutheran church, Rev. W. J. Lewinske officiating. Gretchen Doyen was born August 1, 1864, in Grossefehn, Ostfriesland, Germany and died January 11, 1930, at her home here, aged 65 years, five months and ten days. At the age of 19 she came to America and made her home at Pomeroy, where she was united in marriage with M. J. Pruin, March 12, 1893. Four children were born to them. She is survived by her husband, son Hei, daughters, Mrs. Taman, Mrs. Bert Schoon, and Anna Pruin; three brothers, George and Joergen of Pomeroy, and Harm of Good Thunder, Minn., four sisters, Mrs. Ben Loots, Mrs. H. Janssen and Mrs. R. Peters of Pomeroy and Mrs. Anna Wiese of Knoke, and six grandchildren. Interment was made in Summit Hill Cemetery.
