OBITUARY
Mrs. Cotton Smith Mather
Deceased was born in Pennsylvania Nov. 25, 1832 and moved with her parents at the age of nine years to Clinton County, Iowa, where she was married Dec. 19, 1854 to Cotton Smith Mather. In 1881 they moved to Webster County, Iowa where Mr. Mather died Dec 16, 1884.
To this union seven children were born. The living are J. S. and R. A. of Somers, Iowa, Mrs. Addie Stacy of Laurens, Iowa and Mrs. Nellie Rice of Elrod, S. D. Those died are Mrs. Elizabeth Walrod, Mrs. Hattie Brand and Eddie who died in infancy.
After her husband’s death she lived with her children in Calhoun County, Iowa until Feb. 1909 when she went with her daughter, Mrs. Rice, to Elrod, S. D. to make her home, where she died May 25, 1913 aged 80 year and 6 months. Death was due to Bright’s disease.
