Obituary Andrew J. Shriver
Andrew J. Shriver was suddenly summoned by death, Saturday, Oct. 17, while performing the duties of agent for the c and G. W. railway at Rinard, Iowa. He was apparently in the best of health and while meeting No. 16, was stricken and in a few minutes passed away.
Andres J. Shriver, son of William and Martha Shriver, was born May 9, 1862, in Caldwell, Ohio. October 15, 1885, he was united in marriage to Ella M. Smith of Boone, Iowa, who preceded him in death, March 2, 1900. To this union were born four children, Mrs. Charley Ebers, who passed away Dec. 26, 1914. The surviving children are Mrs. Fred Simpson of Rinard, Iowa; William E. Shriver, Denver, Colo., and Ray R. Shriver, Kelly, Iowa.
April 21st, 1919, he was united in marriage to Lily D. Ogan, of Colfax, Iowa, who survive him. He is also survived by one brother and three sisters, Elmer E. Shriver, Neola, Iowa; Mrs. John L. Beem, Luzerne, Iowa; Mrs. J. G. Dillion Ida, Iowa; and Mrs. Percy Kunkle, Rinard, Iowa; and Four grand children, Earl Ebers, Blue Island, Ill; Lucile Ebers, Chicago, Ill.; Wilmot Ebers, Rinard, Iowa, and Robert Shriver of Kelly, Iowa.
He joined the Baptist Church in early life. On coming to Rinard he joined the Christian Church and later his letter was transferred with that of his wife to the Methodist church.
He has been a member of the Order of the railroad Telegraphers for more than thirty years. He was also a member of the order of Odd Fellows.
Rev. H. C. Guy, Scranton, Iowa, officiated at the last rites.
Interment was at Oak Hill Cemetery, Belle Plaine, Iowa, in the family lot.
