BATAVIA - Nina BLACK, 85, of Lohrville, formerly of Batavia, died Nov. 7, 2000, at Shady Oaks Care Center in Lake City.
She was born Oct. 4, 1915, to E.R. and Alice LEWIS COFFEY in Aurora, Neb. She married Murl BLACK on Sept. 20, 1936, in Phillips. He died in 1975.
A graduate of Phillips High School, she taught country school and farmed near Batavia. She was a member of Batavia Methodist Church, Phillips Methodist Church and Lohrville Methodist Church, where she served as church organist. She was a member of Farm Bureau and Lohrville U.M.W.
She is survived by two daugthers, Nila SPENCER of Lohrville and Rose ROLLENHAGEN of Ames; a son, Murl Jr. of Lohrville; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a brother, Ray COFFEY of Hickman, Neb.; and two sisters, Erma STOLL of Story City and Joy WALKER of Ottumwa.
She was preceded in death by a sister and two brothers.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at United Methodist Church in Lohrville, the Rev. Dwight Grosvenor officiating. Burial will be in Batavia Cemetery at 4 p.m. Friday, the Rev. Thomas Raphael'Nakos officiating.
Visitation will be after 4 p.m. today at Brown Funeral Home in Lohrville with the family present from 4 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 8 p.m.
