Place of Death: Clive V. Clark, Sr. 94 passed away Saturday, May 26, 2012 at the Sunny Knoll Care Centre.

His wishes were to be cremated. Memorial Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 29, at the United Methodist Church, Rockwell City, with Pastor Anita Bane officiating.

Burial will be at Rosehill Cemetery, with Military Rites by the Rockwell City Veterans Organization.

Clive is survived by his son Clive V. Clark, Jr. and his wife Julie, and their four children, Ben, Abby, Matthew, and Joe, of Rockwell City; son John Clark of Lincoln, NE; and daughter Jane Combellick and her fiancé Jeff Snyder of Chandler, AZ, and her two children, Ryan Combellick of Los Angeles, CA, and Tricia Combellick of Chandler, AZ. He was preceded in death by his wife Mary; parents, Aubry and Jeane Smith Clark; and brother, Earl Clark.

Clive Vinton Clark, Sr. was born January 16, 1918 at Marshalltown, Iowa. Clive graduated from Brighton High School, with the Class of 1935, and received his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Iowa in 1939. On August 15, 1941 he was united in marriage to Mary Elizabeth Cowguill at Packwood, Iowa. Clive served in the United States Coast Guard, during World War II, in the New Guinea and the Philippine Islands, and was honorably discharged attaining the rank of Lt. Senior Grade. In 1946, the couple moved to Rockwell City, where they purchased Wilson Grocery. They later moved the store to Highway 20, and established Clark’s Super Market, which they operated for over sixty years. Mary passed away in January of 2011.

Clive was a member of the United Methodist Church, and had served on the Rockwell City School Board for ten years.
