Rites Held Monday For Mrs. Clara Streit
Funeral services for Mrs. Clara Streit, 86, long-time Pomeroy residence, were held on Monday at St. Mary's Catholic church, with the Rev. J. Charles Yetmar as celebrant of the requiem Mass. Burial was in the church cemetery, with Jim Streit, Dick Streit, Bob Streit, John Duden, Don Guggisberg and Joe Pelican as pallbearers.

Mrs. Streit died Wednesday evening at the Henry Nursing Home in Rockwell City, where she had been a resident for two years.

Clara Heebner, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Heebner was born May 31, 1878 in Germany and came to the United States with her family when she was seven. She had since resided in Calhoun county.

She was married to Mike Streit and they farmed in the Pomeroy community until 1922, when they retired and moved to town. He died in 1946 and she continued to live in her home until her health failed.

Mrs. Streit is survived by two sons, Bernard and Arnold, both of Pomeroy; three daughters, Mrs. Marie Duden of Pomeroy, Mrs. Eleanor Smith of Thomasboro, Ill., and Mrs. Bernard (Elvera)Guggisberg of Jolley; 19 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband and one son Leo.

Among those from a distance who attended the services were Mrs. Eleanor Smith and Jean of Thomasboro, Ill., Miss Susan Smith of Bloomington, Ill., Mr. and Mrs. Joe Pelican and son of Sioux City, Mr. and Mrs. Russell Doughterty and family of Lidderdale, Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Omann and family of Pocahontas, Richard Streit of Guthrie Center and others from Rockwell City, Palmer, Fonda, Albert City and Fort Dodge.
