DEATH OF J. G. ROBINSON

James G. Robinson, ex-supervisor, and well known all over the county died of heart failure at his home near Farnhamville on Saturday Aug., 19th. The funeral services were held at the house on Monday at 2 p.m. by Rev. Vanderwalker assisted by Rev. Schuler of Farnhamville and Rev. Ross of Lake City. There was a large attendance of sympathizing friends who followed the remains to Farnhamville cemetery.

Mr. Robinson was born Sept. 28th, 1825, in Washington county Indiana. At the age of 15, he moved with his parents to Illinois at Walnut Grove near which the city and college of Eureka now stands. While here he became a member of the Church of Christ of which he has been a faithful member and tireless worker ever since. From Walnut Grove he moved back to Putnam county Indiana, where in April 1843 he was married to Miss Francis W. Allen. To this union six daughters were born, four of whom survive him. In 1844 he moved to Davis county and in 1848 to Lucas county, which he helped organize, being one of its first commissioners. In 1872 he removed to his present homestead in Calhoun county where he resided till his death. He had attained the ripe old age of 78 years 10 months and 22 days.

Such is the brief record of a life that is full of honor and good work, fit for emulation by every youth of our land in all those strong moral principles that make manly men. As a man he was above reproach. What he conceived to be his duty he unfalteringly performed – a democrat, he was elected for several terms as supervisor in a county having an over-overwhelming republican majority. Throughout these busy years neither friend or opponent has whispered one word of doubt of his peerless integrity. As a professed Christian he lived the high standard he professed and in all the varied demands of the church he was constantly to the forefront. He carried his religion into his home and the good book was his daily companion.

In passing he leaves his life companion for 56 years a frail, broken body who must soon join him.
