Thurs., Dec. 21, 1899 appeared two items:

Mr. Cahail, one of the pioneer settlers of Calhoun county, died at his home in Cedar township Sunday afternoon, Dec. 16, and was buried Monday, the funeral services being held at the Cedar Valley church.

Isaac Cahail, one of Iowa's pioneers, died in Cedar township, this county, last Saturday. He was born in 1820 in Sciota county, Ohio, and was therefore seventy-nine years old at the time of his death. He came to Iowa in 1845, and was married in 1848. He had thirteen children, of which only three are now living. Sixteen grandchildren survive him. The funeral service was held Monday in the Cedar M. E. church. The sermon was preached by Rev. A. J. Langdell, of Manson, Rev. John Pooley, assisting.

NOTE: One article states he died on Sunday, and the other says Saturday.
