Death of Garfield Phillips
The sad news was received at the home of Mr. and Mrs. John Phillips Saturday night that their son Garfield, who left home last April and went west, had been stricken with smallpox and died in the faraway state of Washington. Garfield Phillips was well known in Rockwell City and vicinity where he had lived since early childhood, and his friends and acquaintances will be greatly shocked on learning of his sad fte. The particulars of his death are not yet known by his relatives here, the announcement of which was telegraphed them by his two brothers who are at Aspen, Colorado, they having been notified by a friend of the deceased at the place where he died. The parents are heat broken, the gray haired mother having been nearly prostrated by the terrible news that she will see her boy no more on earth. The sympathy of the entire community is with them in their sorrow and the prayers of the righteous are ascending to the throne of mercy asking that they me be comforted.
- Rockwell City Advocate

Mr. Garfield Phillips was a brother of Mrs. Ed Bradley and D. E. Phillips of this city.
