"Funeral Services Held Monday for Charles V. Harris"
'Died Friday at Home of Son in Marble Rock after an illness of Two Years'
Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at the Methodist church for Charles Victor Harris, age 68, who died Friday at the home of his son, Galen Harris, at Marble Rock. Services were in charge of the Rev. H.F. Mercer, pastor of the Methodist church, and burial was held at Rose Hill cemetery.
Mr Harris was born in Clarksville on August 13, 1880, the son of Mr and Mrs Tunis Harris. He was united in mariage May 19, 1900, to Lena Belle Crouse. Following their marriage, the couple made their home in the vicinity of Greene and later near Nashua where they were engaged in farming for twelve years.
They returned to Greene and have since lived here until his wife was taken to the Cedar Valley hospital, where she is still a patient. Mr Harris had made his home with his son at Marble Rock since his wife's illness.
Surviving besides his wife are five sons, Leo of Charles City, Cecil and Donald of Greene, Galen and Virgil of Marble Rock and one daughter, Mrs Robert Foutz of Marble Rock. Also a sister, Mrs Ina Lumm of Clarksville and a half-brother, Henry Wells of Wycoff, Minnesota, eight grandchildren and one great grand-child. On grandchild preceded him in death.
Mr Harris was a member of the Methodist church of Greene.
