Obituary - taken from "The Iowa Recorder", Butler County, Iowa

"Died: -- In Bennezette, May 4th, 1888, Mrs J.B. Crouse, of pneumonia of the lungs. Deceased was born in London, England, July 4th, 1838. When 12 years of age she emigrated to America with her parents. They located in Wisconsin where she resided until her marriage with Mr. Crouse. Since then they have resided in Iowa. She leaves a husband and 5 children to mourn her loss. The funeral services were conducted by the M. E. minister of Greene, she being a member of that church for 20 years. The remains were interred in the West Side cemetery at Marble Rock on last sunday. May she rest in peace. "
