GREENE PIONEER DIES SUDDENLY
Mrs Hardman, 91, Arrived in Iowa
in Covered Wagon

GREENE- Mrs Jane Hardman, 91, died suddenly while crossing the bridge over the Shell Rock river going toward the Greene business section Tuesday afternoon.

A member of a prominent pioneer family of this vicinity, Mrs. Hardman had come to Butler county from Oshkosh, Wis., where she was born. She made the trip with her family as a child in a covered wagon. In the old Coldwater Catholic church in Butler county, she was married to Peter Hardman Jan. 1, 1878. She had been active in church work until a few years ago.

Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Thomas Dolan of Greene, Mrs. Fayth Hardman of Ann Arbor, Mich., and Mrs. Will Daugherty of Salina, Kans.; a son, Walter of Marshalltown; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. A sister, Margaret Hardman; a brother, Charles, and her husband preceded her in death.

The body will be taken from the Watterson funeral home here to the home of her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Dolan. Services will be at the St. Mary's Catholic church but the time of the funeral has not been set pending word from relatives.
