Obituary -- William Walsh was born in Pike county, Illinois, November 29, 1846 and died at Clarksville, Iowa, November 8, 1923. He was united in marriage to Ida M. Shadbolt, May 4, 1875. Five children were born to this union, Robert of Clarksville; Jerome, of Nashua; Mrs. Bert Coon, of Fairbault, Minn.; Mrs. Joe Gough, Clarkfield, Minn.; and Mrs. Arnonld Amick, of Shell Rock, who with the mother survive him. There are also twelve grandchildren, three brothers and one sister. He came to Iowa with his parents when a boy and spent the remainder of his life here, with the excpeption of one year in Colorado. He was a member of the I.O.O.F. and Rebekah lodges. He had been in his usual health and after the noon day meal, decided to call on a sick friend, A.A. Walrath, was stricken with apoplexy and died almost instantly at the Walrath home. Funeral services were held at the Presbyterian church, by pastor, Rev. D.N. Morgan with I.O.O.F. rituals and interment was made in Lynwood cemetery. The funeral cortege was one of the largest held here in years and many relatives and mutual friends from far and near were in attendance.
