George E. Perrin was born Oct. 12, 1866 in Floyd County, Iowa, near Charles City, and died at his home near New Hartford on Wednesday evening Nov. 22, 1944 at the age of 78 years, 1 month, 10 days.
On Sept. 5, 1888 he was married to Marie Jensen at Nashua, Iowa, and the couple farmed east of old Bradford for four years. Returning to Floyd County they farmed there for 17 years, then went to Kerkhoven, Minnesota where they lived for several years. Later they lived in Winnebago, Minn. for two years, coming to New Hartford in 1927 where they purchased a small acreage at the north edge of town.
To this union were born six sons, George L. who died in infancy, Leslie and Lloyd of New Harford and Elmer L, Walter L. and Stanley L. of Colorado Springs, Col. Surviving are his widow, five sons, fourteen grandchildren, and two great grandchildren. Also, a sister, Mrs. Ella Seaver, of Nora Springs, Iowa and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mr. Perrin's skillful craftsmanship in repairing furniture and making children's toys kept him busy the year around and endeared him to the youngsters of the vicinity, most of who cherish some toy made by him. His cheerful, jovial disposition won him friends through out the country side, and he will be sadly missed by both young and old.
Funeral services were held at the Methodist church in New Hartford Sunday at 1:30 pm with Rev W.M. Zimmerman in charge. Burial was in the cemetery in Nashua.
Dearest husband and father, thou hast left us,
And out hearts are sad tonight.
Oh, that we again could see you
All our dreams would be so bright.
Dearest one, thou hast left us,
We thy loss most deeply feel,
But tis God who hath bereft us,
He can all our sorrows heal.
