Rites Held Monday For Galen Gates, 67

Galen Russell Gates, son of Albert and Estella Ackley Gates, was born October 2, 1892 at Greene and entered into rest at Grand Canyon, Arizona, November 4, 1959 at the age of 67 years.

He married Adah Hesalroad on June 16, 1917 in Greene. Born to this union was one son, Claire Eugene, who lost his life in the service of his country, August 21, 1944.

Mr. Gates lived his entire life on the farm where he was born and farmed until 10 years ago. Since then he had enjoyed semi-retirement and traveled extensively.

He was a member of Methodist Church at Marble Rock.

Survivors include his wife, Adah; one brother, Glen A. Gates of Arcadia, California; one sister Julia Schneider of Evanston, Illinois, and two nieces Estella Boney and Lucile Carr, both of Pomons, California.

Funeral services were held on Monday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock in Hamilton's Funeral Chapel in Green with Rev. Clayton Becker, pastor of First Methodist Church officiating. Burial was held in Hillside Cemetery in Marble Rock.
