Contributor: Connie Ellis (Not related)Funeral services for Robert Borglum, 85, of Clarksville, Iowa were held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, October 16 at Community United Methodist Church with burial in the Lynwood Cemetery, both in Clarksville, Iowa. The Redman-Schwartz Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Robert Borglum, son of Coronel and Bess Mae (Strike) Borglum, was born September 18, 1923 in Nashua, Iowa. He married Louise Gerber on November 17, 1946. Louise passed away in February of 1995. On August 26, 2000, Robert married Lorraine "Peg" (Martin) Schultz in Nashua, Iowa. Robert graduated from the Nashua High School in 1941 and was a U.S. Army veteran. He farmed near New Hartford, Iowa until 1955 when he and his first wife purchased an LP gas business and also opened an appliance and TV store in Toledo, Iowa. Fromm 1963 to 1965 he traveled the Midwest States selling pharmaceuticals. After moving to Clarksville in 1965 he managed the American Cyanamid plant. In 1975, he and his first wife opened B & G Nursery with their son-in-law, Bruce Ringleb. They continued with the nursery business until he semi-retired in 1987. He still maintained an annual garden shop out of his garage and provided landscaping services when asked.
Robert Borglaum died Sunday, October 12, 2008 at Allison Health Care Center in Allison, Iowa of natural causes. He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Louise, three grandchildren, and a brother, Paul Borglum.
Robert is survived by his wife Peg of Cedar Falls, Iowa; 3 sons, James (Maxine) Borglum of Waverly, Iowa, Jeffrey (Casey) Borglum of Wyoming, Minnesota, Donald (DeAnn) Borglum of Clarksville, Iowa, and 3 daughters, Mary (Morgan) Masters of Ankeny, Iowa, Karen (Bruce) Ringleb of Tahlequah, Oklahoma, and Peggy (Barry) Bentley of Fayette, Iowa; 14 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren; 2 step-daughters, Debbie (Blaine) Holder and Gail (Bill) Corwin, both of Cedar Falls, Iowa; 8 step-grandchildren and 4 step-great-grandchildren; and 2 brothers, Keith (Joyce) Borglum of Waterloo, Iowa and Don Borglum of Coos Bay, Oregon.
