Jochim (Jacob) H Ahrens born 1797 (or 1799 or 1800) Mecklenberg, Vorpommern, Germany. Married Maria. Emigrated 1853 to Davenport, Scott, IA with family. Lived there two years. Moved 1855 to Pittsford, Butler, IA and bought land (laid claim) to a farm in Section 30 that eventually totaled 400 acres, farmer. Died September 1859 Pittsford, Butler, IA. Children (I have found, not 100% sure): Ida (married Henry Price (or Preuss), Henry Jochim (September 1829 Germany to September 5, 1910 Hayfield, Hancock, IA, married Louisa Dahl, then Beate Fritsch), Alfred (born Germany, died 1857 South Fork River, Dumont, Butler, IA), John (born 1835 Germany, died September 25, 1862 Civil War Camp, Macon, Georgia) and Elisabeth Louise (born February 2, 1838 Prussia or Mecklenberg, Germany, married Johann Miller March 27, 1857 Cedar Falls, Black Hawk, IA, 12 children, died April 9, 1909 Luverne, Kossuth, IA).
Found a brother to Jochim named Henry Ahrens in the 1880 and 1885 censuses living with his son, Henry J ahrens and family at Pittsford, Butler, IA. That Henry Ahrens was born 1807 Germany and worked as a mason. Widowed.
Jochim and wife are buried at the Harlan Cemetery, Pittsford, Butler, Iowa.
