Doris Evert, age 78, formerly of Parkersburg, Iowa, died Wednesday, April 4, 2007 at Ravenwood Nursing and Rehab Center, Waterloo, Iowa of natural causes. Funeral services will be Saturday, April 7 at Bethel Lutheran Church with burial in Oak Hill Cemetery, both in Parkersburg, Iowa. Redman-Schwartz Funeral Home of Parkersburg, Iowa was in charge of arrangements.

Doris was born March 13, 1929 in Parkersburg, Iowa, daughter of John H. and Jeanne (DuBois) Simon. She married Alva "Pike" Evert on April 2, 1953 in Manchester, Iowa. He preceded her in death. Mrs. Evert graduated from the Parkersburg High School and worked at John Deere Tractor Works in Waterloo, Iowa, retiring in 1983.

She was preceded in death by a brother, John Simon; 4 sisters, Helen Terwilliger, Darlene Smith, Margarite Fisher, and Simone Simon who died in infancy.

She is survived by 2 sons, Mark (Jan) Evert of Cedar Falls, Iowa and Neal (Robyn) of Lakeville, Minnesota; a daughter, Lisa (Jim) Dasen of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; 4 grandchildren; 5 brothers, Raymond Simon, Vernon (Mary Ann) Simon, Russell (Jenee)Simon, and Daniel Simon, all of Parkersburg, Iowa and Donald Simon of Waterloo, Iowa; and 2 sisters, Pauline (David) Engelking of Springfield, Missouri and Sally Windham of Rockford, Illinois.
