Memorial services, which included military rites, were held at the Ventura United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Paul Fredericksen, officiating. Burial was at the Harlan Cemetery, Dumont, Iowa
Miller served numerous United Brethren and Evangelical United Brethren Churches in both Nebraska and Iowa. He was a delegate to the General Conference of the National United Brethren Church. The son of Albert J. and Eliza Ann "Lida" (Roberts) Miller, he was born in Monroe County, Iowa *See Monroe County obituary section for further information* on September 16, 1896. He attended Albia High School and served in the Navy during World War I.
Elton Miller married Lola M. Cornford on March 16, 1920 in Albia, Iowa. He graduated from Bonebrake Theological Seminary in Dayton, Ohio.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Lola; his parents; a son, a daughter; 4 grandchildren; 4 sisters, Bertha Sinclair, Delpha, Pearl, and Fern Billings.
Survivors include four daughters: Elizabeth Piper of Goddard, Kansas; Ruth Knop and Nancy Anderson, both of Ventura, Iowa and Beverly Kyle of Colorado Springs, Colorado; 5 sons, Robert Miller of Kankakee, Illinois, Dr. Richard Miller of Portland, Oregon, Elton Miller, Jr. of Alton, Illinois, the Rev. William J. Miller of Franklin, Tennessee, and retired Army Chaplain (Lt. Col.) Retired Paul Miller of Shawnee, Kansas; 28 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren.
