ELIZABETH “BESSIE” BOYLAN NEAL (1849-10May1877)

From The Clarksville Star - Obituaries – 17 May 1877

(Communicated from Bristow)
Departed this life Thursday, May 10th, at the residence of Barnet Neal, Jackson Twp., of disease [sic] the lungs, Bessie Neal, aged thirty years, wife of Isaac Neal and daughter of Isaac Boylan. The deceased had lived in this county twenty-three years, at the time of her death. Eight years ago she married Isaac Neal. Becoming afflicted some four years ago with lung disease, she went with her husband last summer to Kansas, where she hoped to find in its salubrious climate some relief for her acute complaint, choosing Rooks county as a place of residence.--

The most skillful medical aid to be found in that section, was brought into requisition, but neither that nor the genial climate for which the State is celebrated, proved effective. She returned to this county April 2nd to spend the remainder of her few days among her numerous friends and relatives. Mrs. N. was a member of the United Brethren church, and had a large circle of friends who will deplore her loss. She leaves a husband and two children to whom she was devotedly attached as a loving, dutiful wife, and mother. She now sleeps beside her mother and her two and only sisters, in the cemetry [sic] three miles west of Bristow, to be gathered in at the last Day.

The last tribute was closed with a short and appropriate exortation [sic] and a well directed prayer by Geo. Trindle. Her husband and relatives have the sincerest sympathy of this community, and “may he who tempers the wind to the shorn lamb,” be a stay and support to them in this their hour of affliction. In her demise her family loses a loving and devoted wife and parent, her friends a genial companion, society a worthy and respected member.

OBSERVER.
