Leona Van Dyk, 86, of Parkersburg, died at home Sunday, Jan. 23, from natural causes.

She was born July 7, 1924, in Parkersburg, daughter of Abbo and Lena Eilers Adelmund. She married Dale Brown in 1940 and they later divorced. On Dec. 10, 1946, she married Hilko Van Dyk at the Little Brown Church, Nashua, and they later divorced.

Ms. Van Dyk worked as a housekeeper for various families in the area, and also worked for Myles Froemming. Later she worked for Parkersburg Lumber, painting and finishing the inside of new homes, and was a cook for the Simon Cafe, retiring from both jobs in 1975. She was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church, and later was a member of the Faith Lutheran Church.

Survived by: a daughter, Joyce (Dave) Dickes of Parkersburg; a son, Keith (Judy) of Parkersburg; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and three stepgreat-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by: seven sisters, Alice Brumond, Kate Robinson, Verbena Brown, Mary Stevens, Evelyn Shaeffer, Minnie Hites and Angeline Dove; and four brothers, Abbie, Henry, Jake and Bert Adelmund.

Memorial Services: 2 p.m. Friday at Faith Lutheran Church, with burial in Oak Hill Cemetery, both in Parkersburg.

Public visitation from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Redman-Schwartz Funeral Home, Parkersburg, and for an hour before services Friday at the church.
