Gladys Rose Hodges, 98, of Cedar Falls, formerly of Parkersburg, died Tuesday, Jan. 11, at Windsor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Cedar Falls.

She was born May 27, 1912, on a farm near Parkersburg, daughter George Arthur and Ida Mae Fuller Lewis. She married Walter McKinley Hodges in spring 1937 in Allison. He died Aug. 8, 1972.

Mrs. Hodges received her education from a rural country school near her home, then helped care for a local family. Later she and her husband farmed near Janesville, Parkersburg and Corydon. She was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church, Parkersburg

Survived by: a brother, Walter "Buster" (Celeste) Lewis of Selma, Calif.; and special friend, Pat Schell of Parkersburg.

Preceded in death by: four sisters, Alice Hunt, Frances Lewis, Edith Bennett and Myrtle Witte; and seven brothers, infant twins, Orton and Orlo, Evert in infancy, and Glen, Herbert, "Bud" Lawrence and "Pat" Virgil Lewis.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Friday at Calvary Baptist Church, Parkersburg, with burial in Oakland Cemetery, Janesville.

Public visitation from 3 to 7 p.m. today at Redman-Schwartz Funeral Home, Parkersburg, and for an hour before services Friday at the church.
