Robert (Bob) Ressler, 86, of Allison, Iowa, passed away November 5, 2010, at the Rehabilitation Center of Allison.

He was born September 19, 1924, in Butler County, Iowa, to Hubert William and Sena Carrie (Frerichs) Ressler.

Robert was baptized at the Butler Center Church and confirmed at the St. James Lutheran Church in Allison. Robert attended country schools until 6^th grade and then attended & graduated from the Allison High School. He served his country in the United States Army during World War II in the EGR for three years. Robert married Edith Maxine Wiegman on March 10, 1946, in Allison, Iowa.

He owned and operated the grocery store in Bristow for several years, was in the lumber business in Allison, Dumont, Bristow & Hampton, and also worked for REC and the Allison Creamery. Robert was a member of St. James Lutheran Church in Allison and was also a member of the Allison Amvets and the American Legion. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, carpentry, garage door sales & service and playing cards especially cribbage. Robert was the mayor of Bristow for ten years, was on the Church Council for twelve years and was on various City committees. He also enjoyed his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Robert is survived by daughter Kathryn Mary Ressler of Cedar Falls, daughter Doris Jeanne & husband Keith Rindels of Montezuma, daughter Ann Elizabeth & husband Ross Grafft of Osage, grandchildren, Robert (Erin) Rindels, Missy (Curt) Roach, Ryan (Carrie) Grafft, Randi (Kara) Grafft, Ranae (Grant) Norland, Reese Grafft, great grandchildren, Austin and Tyler Rindels, Bailey, Garret and Madison Roach, Gabriel Grafft, Robert Grafft and sister, Marilyn Shultz.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, sister, Mary Jean, one sister in infancy, and a brother-in-law, Roger Shultz.

Burial will take place in the Allison Cemetery.

Visitation Details: Service Details 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM Sunday November 7, 2010 Sietsema-Vogel Funeral Home 308 Birch St. Allison, Iowa 50602.
