M.W. (Dell) Merriau, 85, died Sunday afternoon in Riverview hospital here; admitted a week ago after suffering broken shoulder in a fall at home; born Sept. 6, 1863, Postville, Ia.; son of Amiable and Adelia Lela Merriau; came to Greene as young man; married Miss Ida Elizabeth Bowman here Thanksgiving day, 1888; farmed and later retired to Greene; mayor several years; no children; survived by sister, Mrs. Jennie Martin, Greene; brother F.F. Merriau, Arton, N.M.; wife died in 1936; funeral at 2 p.m. on Wednesday; First Methodist church, Green; burial Rose Hill cemetery; body at Hann funeral home, where prayer service will precede funeral.

NOTE: All family records show deceased's correct name to be N.A. (Norman Adelbert), not M.W.
