Robert G. Smith, 50, of New Hartford, Iowa passed away on Sunday, January 28, 2007 at Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo, Iowa.

Bob was born on July 3, 1956, the son of Kenneth W. and Margaret H. (Fickess) Smith in Waterloo, Iowa.

He graduated from New Hartford High School in New Hartford, Iowa in 1975. On June 9, 1979, he was united in marriage to Cindy Abbas at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. The couple were later divorced. Bob was employed at Top-Air Manufacturing until it closed and then for Unverferth Manufacturing until his retirement, due to ill health in November of 2004. Bob also farmed for 20 years in his spare time.

He enjoyed farming, reading, fishing and playing cards.

Survivors are his children, Curtis (Michelle) Smith of New Hartford, Iowa, Shasta Smith (Dennis Dietrick) of Dike, Iowa, Margo Smith of New Hartford, Iowa and Tanna Smith of New Hartford, Iowa; 2 grandchildren, Hailey and Madison Smith; sister, Linda (John) Heffner of Parkersburg, Iowa; brother, John (Joyce) Smith of New Hartford, Iowa; and by two special friends, Mary Back and Jeanne Holub. '

His parents preceded him in death.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, February 1, 2007 at 11:00 am at the New Hartford United Methodist Church in New Hartford, Iowa with Pastor Carolyn Bittner officiating.

Burial will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery in New Hartford, Iowa.

Friends may call from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Wednesday at the New Hartford United Methodist Church and one hour prior to services on Thursday at the church.

Memorials may be directed to the family.
