APLINGTON - Robert Urban "Bob" Oligschlaeger, 87, of Aplington, died Friday, July 9, at Maple Manor Village in Aplington.

He was born March 3, 1923, in St. Elizabeth, Mo., son of Bernard and Alma Schell Oligschlaeger. He married Freda Rose Crane March 27, 1943, in Bryan, Texas. She died Nov. 11, 1980. He married Marjorie DeBower Schuck April 2, 1983.

He was a 1940 graduate of Tuscumbia High School. He enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps in 1942 and served as a radioman and gunner on a twin engine PBJ-1 bomber in World War II. He served in the Pacific Theater of the war, achieving the rank of tech sergeant. In 2001 a Marine Corps honor detail presented Bob the U.S. Armed Forces Air Medal for meritorious service earned in combat over Rabaul and Taviang. He was a radio and television repairman in Jefferson City, Mo. His family purchased the St. Elizabeth Farm Supply Co. and operated it for several years, while operating several farms in Miller county. He owned Lawson-Robinett Farm Supply Co. of Tuscumbia in the 1970s, the Anchor Milling Co. feed mill in Tuscumbia and the Clarence Wright house, overlooking the Osage River. He worked for several years managing farms in Colorado and as an agricultural sales representative.

Survived by: his wife, Marjorie; six daughters, Judy (Kevin) Meyer of Osage Beach, Mo., Mary (Alan) Wright of St. Louis, Martha Oligschlaeger of Osage Beach, Susie Reynaga of San Diego, Helen (Fred) Allen of Springfield, Mo., Christine (David) Vallely of Springfield; a son, Robert of St. Elizabeth, Mo.; 17 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; two sisters, living out of state; four stepchildren, Diane (Norm) Meester, Gaylen (Linda) Schuck, Becky (Henry) Jungling and Russell (Gail) Schuck; 10 step-grandchildren; 29 stepgreat-grandchildren; and two stepgreat-great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by: his wife, Freda Rose Crane; and an infant son, James.

Celebration of Life: 11 a.m. Monday at Bethel Reformed Church, rural Aplington, with burial at a later date.

Public visitation for an hour before services Monday at the church. Redman-Schwartz Funeral Home, Parkersburg, is assisting the family.

Memorials: may be directed to Cedar Valley Hospice, Disabled Veterans of America or Maple Manor Village.
