James Lester “Dutch” Wiley, age 86, of Allison, Iowa, formerly of Parkersburg, Iowa, was born the son of Andrew James and Pauline Ruth (Klodt) Wiley on August 29, 1923, at home in Cedar Falls, Iowa. He received his education in Parkersburg and attended the Parkersburg High School when it was on 3rd Street.

Following high school he lived and farmed east of Parkersburg for 17 years. He moved near Allison where he continued farming for several more years. Dutch also worked at Fischal Construction Company, for the Butler County Fair Board and for local farmers.

Dutch enjoyed training horses and going to Chuck Wagon races. He was a fan of most sports and especially liked to watch baseball when the Cubs were playing. He enjoyed visiting with people, spending time outdoors and keeping up with current events. Dutch was baptized into the Christian faith.

Dutch died Tuesday, June 15, 2010, at the Rehabilitation Center of Allison, Allison, Iowa, from natural causes.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Robert in infancy and Corporal John Bruce Wiley who died in World War II.

Dutch is survived by two sisters, Jean Harris of Allison, Iowa and Roberta “Bobbie” Kahler of Grinnell, Iowa; one niece, Mary (Wilson) Groen; one nephew, Jerry (Mary) Kahler; two great-nieces; one great-nephew; one great great-niece; and one great great-nephew.

Funeral Services will be 10:30 a.m., Saturday, June 19, 2010, at the Bethel Lutheran Church with burial in Oak Hill Cemetery, both in Parkersburg.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Friday at the Redman-Schwartz Funeral Home in Parkersburg and one hour before the services at the church.
