Wayne O. Hewitt, 81, of Allison, Iowa, passed away May 29, 2010, at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mason City, Iowa.

He was born on April 17, 1929, in Bristow, Iowa, to Everett and Henrietta (Walterman) Hewitt. Wayne graduated from the Bristow High School in 1947.

He served his Country in the United States Army during the Korean War, where he was awarded the Bronze Star and also attained the rank of sergeant. Wayne was united in marriage to Mary Folkerts on December 23, 1951, in Bristow, Iowa. He worked as a parts man at Case Implement in Bristow and then farmed for thirty-five years. Wayne was a member of the New Hope Parish of the United Methodist Church in Dumont, the Dumont American Legion and the Bristow AmVets. He enjoyed fishing for walleye in Canada at Pine Point Resort and also enjoyed hunting Pheasants.

Wayne is survived by his wife Mary Hewitt of Allison, son Stan (Connie) Hewitt of Bristow, daughter Wanda (Randi) Thomas of Mason City, grandchildren Nathan Hewitt & fiancee Laura, Brandon Thomas & girlfriend Tara, Nickolas & Chelsi Thomas, sister-in-laws Ruth Wunsch & Alice (Claire) Merfeld.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Service Details: 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM Tuesday June 1, 2010 10:30 AM Wednesday June 2, 2010 New Hope Parish of the United Methodist Church 706 Locust St. Dumont, Iowa 50625.
