Elvin G. Wiese, age 82, of Parkersburg, Iowa, was born February 16, 1928, the son of William Henry and Trena VonDees Wiese on the family farm near Charles City, Iowa. He received his education in a country school east of Kesley, Iowa.

Elvin was united in marriage with Lois Meester on December 12, 1951, in the Reformed Church of Stout, Iowa. The couple made their home on a farm south of Parkersburg where they lived for over 40 years. They moved to their present home in Parkersburg in January, 1991.

Elvin was a member of Reformed Church of Stout where he served on the church consistory. He enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family.

Elvin died Saturday, March 27, 2010, at Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo, Iowa, of natural causes.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Mervin Glen Wiese in infancy; three brothers, Edward Wiese in infancy; Lloyd Wiese and Wilbur Wiese and two sisters, Gertrude Vry and Hattie Lehman.

Elvin is survived by his wife of nearly 60 years, Lois Wiese, Parkersburg, Iowa; Daughters: Jane, husband Dennis Dodd, Dike, Iowa Aaron and Shayna Dodd Kennedy, Kierra & Kael Dodd Austin and Marcie Dodd Jerikah and Brooks Dodd Andrea and Chris Hynes Carson Hynes, Melinda, husband Tom Greiner, Cedar Falls, Iowa Sarah and Brian Petullo Kerstin Greiner (Nate Steege) Michael Greiner, Sandra, husband Dean Bakker, Parkersburg, Iowa Lindsay Bakker (Luke Warren) Amanda and David Capsopoulos. One sister-in-law, Irma and Paul Schipper, Parkersburg, Iowa and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, March 31, 2010, at the Reformed Church of Stout in Stout, Iowa. Burial will be held in Oak Hill Cemetery in Parkersburg.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday at the Redman-Schwartz Funeral Home in Parkersburg, and continue for one hour prior to services at the church on Wednesday.
