Funeral services for Florence Meyne will be 10:30, Wednesday, March 17, 2010 at St. Peter Lutheran Church, Greene, with Pastor Gary Hatcher officiating.

Burial will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery, Greene.

Visitation will be 5:00 - 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 16, 2010, at Reid’s Funeral Chapel, 519 N. First St., Greene with a Scripture service at 7:00 p.m.

Florence Margaret Barrick was born April 12, 1911, at Newville, PA, a daughter of Addison and Anna (Foster) Barrick and died March 14, 2010 at the Allison Health Care Center.

She received her education in country schools near Newville, PA. She moved to Iowa in 1932. Florence was united in marriage to Eldo Meyne on September 1, 1936, in the Little Brown Church in Nashua, IA. This union was blessed with one son, Fred. The family lived on their farm southwest of Greene until her husband’s death on November 29, 1977 when she moved into town.

Florence was baptized and confirmed as a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church in Greene on March 22, 1940. She was a member of the Vision Circle, Women’s Club, Coldwater Community Club and Birthday Club.

She worked nine years for the Mather’s Nursing Home. She was a good volunteer, liked to garden and work with her flowers, crafts, crocheting and quilting. Florence will be remembered for her love of cooking and baking.

Florence was an avid fan of the Iowa Hawkeyes and Chicago Cubs. She had a great love for her grandchildren and great -grandchildren and attended many of their school activities.

Living family members include one son: Fred(Lois) Meyne of Greene; Grandson: Dan of Greene, Granddaughter: Judy (Steve) Otto of Aredale; Great-grandchildren: Dustin (Carissa) Otto of Corydon, IA, Jesse (Samantha) Otto of Parkersburg, Alex Otto of Aredale; many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband Eldo, her parents, 3 sisters: Nora Yoke, Girty Tritt, and Emma Myers all of PA; 5 brothers: Clarence, Amos, Ira, all of IA, John and infant brother, Calvin of PA.
