Dr G W Appleby, 82, former physician at Bristow, IA, for 43 years, died of a heart attack Friday at 10 AM at a Waterloo hospital, where he had been confined for the past year.

Born Aug 25, 1869, at Stockton, IL, he was the son of Isaac and Maria Wilder Appleby. He was graduated from the School of Medicine at Northwestern University, Evanston, IL. On May 29, 1886, he was married to Miss Nellie Everett at Crown Point, IN. The couple moved to Bristow in 1890, where Dr Appleby practiced medicine until 1933, when he retired because of failing health.

Since retiring, he had resided for three years at the home of his son, L E Appleby, 718 West Second Street.

Other survivors include a daughter, Mrs Vera McClelland, Lafayette, IN; two brothers, Bert, Geneva, IA, and Myron, Olivet, IL; three grandsons, Donald White, Lafayette, IN, Pvt George K Appleby, with the Marines, and Robert Appleby, 718 West Second Street.

His wife prededed him in death, April 6, 1929.

The body was taken to the Block Funeral Home and will taken to Bristow, Sunday at 10 AM, where funeral services will be conducted Sunday at 2 PM at the Bristow United Brethren church, of which he was a member.

Burial will be at Bristow. (Actually buried in Hampton Cemetery, Hampton, Franklin, IA.)
